Profile: Our Firm's History
Gerald Lee Morosco began his professional work in architecture in 1981 when, after receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art and English from Washington & Jefferson College, he began a traditional apprenticeship in the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin. Having gained an integrated, comprehensive and practical experience in architecture, construction and the allied arts at Taliesin, Mr. Morosco relocated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1986 to pursue his interest in historic preservation.
Gerald Lee Morosco Architects was formed in 1989. Over the ensuing years Morosco and his associates have cultivated an architectural firm which enjoys a broadening reputation for exceptional design, attention to detail, and excellence in project execution.
Our firm is distinguished by the way in which our architects carefully restore existing historic architectural fabric and integrate new work into that fabric. This philosophy is made apparent in our fine residential projects, and in our national award winning historic rehabilitation projects. We further extend this philosophy beyond individual structures into comprehensive project planning for entire neighborhoods and communities.
We are committed in our work towards the revitalization of urban neighborhoods and traditional downtowns. In pursuit of that commitment, we believe that good architecture and existing community structure should be respected, preserved, and incorporated as an essential part of any new design solution.
On a more detailed level, our architects are experienced and qualified in the art and science of the preservation and rehabilitation of historic structures. We integrate the knowledge gained through our experiences with historic structures and construction practices into our new work - building better buildings based upon a comprehensive understanding of the successes and failures of buildings of the past.
Paramount in all our work, we consider our Clients; be they homeowners, tenants, small business owners, not-for-profit entities, or community development organizations, to be an inseparable and integral part of planning, design, and execution of their projects. We maintain an intimate and active communication with all our Clients from project conception to completion; addressing their particular objectives and constraints, while providing them with new insight into the value of well considered and executed design solutions.
